Restored Stagecoach Strong Box

Description

For sale is this completely restored stagecoach strongbox. When I got the box, the outside and inside liner was rusted through in some spots and the cement between the inside and outside liners was leeching through and the cement had turned into a powder after years of water getting in through the seams. I decided to completely disassemble the box and went and had both liners fabricated at Richards Sheetmetal in Ogden. They did a great job and I placed both liners in the base and poured fresh cement in between the two liners and let the cement set. I then placed the top back on and screwed it all back together. I then used JB Weld and sealed all the seams to make it water tight. It was then painted with PPG automotive paint and clear coated then wet sanded starting with 1000 grit and finished with 3000 grit paper. Looks and feels like glass! The crusty, rusty handles were replaced with brass handles. I sent it to Tucson, Az to have it professionally pin stripped with lettering. It came out BEAUTIFUL!! I then placed a thin black carpet liner inside the box. I modified the box a bit by screwing rubber bumpers behind the hinges to keep the heavy lid from sitting on the edge and chipping the paint. I also screwed rubber bumpers on the bottom. I put felt pads behind the handles because this box has some weight and picking this up would eventually chip the paint. Felt pads were also placed underneath the lid to prevent it from smacking the top when you close it so the paint won't chip. The outside measures 13" long x 9" wide x 6.5" high. The inside measures 10" long x 6" wide x 4" deep. It weighs 44 pounds. Lots of work went into this box! Restored to a condition which is better than when it was first made. This box is BEAUTIFUL and will last another 100+ years!
This box is a Victors Strongbox and not a Wells Fargo Strongbox. I simply used the Wells Fargo logo due to its name
recognition. Although this box is an original box, the handles, bumpers and outer liner are not original. This is a restored strongbox.
