VINTAGE ANTIQUE ASIAN RATTAN WICKER TEA CADDY BASKET
When tea was introduced from Asia to Europe, it was extremely expensive.  It was kept under lock and key in what was called a "Tea Caddy".
Tea Caddies were made of wood, porcelain, pewter, brass, copper, silver, wicker baskets. etc.
The rattan wicker is tightly woven and structured.  Lovely patina on brass and basket.
It has its latch and handle.
There is some wicker missing on the inside rim.  Cannot be seen when lid is closed.
The hinge is in good condition.
It is approx. 7 1/2 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches tall.
